
RedHawks Fall to Alabama in Three Sets

HUNTINGTON, W. Va.—In its second match at the Marshall Invitational, the Miami University volleyball team (0-2) dropped a three-set decision to Alabama (3-0) on Saturday morning (15-25, 17-25, 20-25) at the Cam Henderson Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
"Alabama brought a lot to the court and won the serve and pass game. We took the opportunity to work several line ups to improve our game intelligence and communication."

Miami rounds out its stint at the Marshall Invitational against the host Thundering Herd at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. The match will be aired on ESPN+.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami collected the first point of the opening set, but the Crimson Tide pushed ahead to notch a 25-15 win in the first stanza. Senior Gaby Harper had three kills for the RedHawks In the set.
- Alabama jumped out to an early lead in the second set and did not look back as it notched a 25-17 win. Senior Sophie Riemersma recorded three kills and hit .400 to pace the RedHawks in the set.
- The RedHawks posted an early lead in the third set, taking a 7-5 lead off a block by Riemersma and freshman Brooke Cirigliano. Alabama used a 7-0 run to take a lead it would not relinquish. Miami closed within 19-18 late in the set, but the Crimson Tide went on to the 25-20 win in the third set to take the match. Harper served up all three of her aces in the third stanza.

NOTES:
- Riemersma led Miami with seven kills and three blocks, while freshman Gracie Norris added 19 assists.
- Sophomores Taylor Nomanson and Abby Stratford saw their first action of the season, while freshman Margo Lawson played in her first match as a RedHawk.
