Three RedHawks Named to All-MAC Teams

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2021 postseason baseball awards on Wednesday. For Miami, junior pitcher Sam Bachman earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team. Junior designated hitter Cole Andrews earned Second-Team All-MAC honors, while senior second baseman Will Vogelgesang was named to the MAC All-Defensive Team. All three earned their second career MAC postseason honor.

Bachman had a tremendous junior campaign, making 12 appearances (all starts) for the RedHawks. He posted a 4-4 record with a 1.81 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched. Opponents recorded a batting average of only .222 against him. In MAC games, Bachman was 3-3 with a 1.35 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched. His ERA of 1.81 ranks second in the MAC while also ranking among the top-10 nationally, and his WHIP of .77 ranks second in the NCAA.

Andrews appeared in 46 games and made 40 starts at designated hitter. He ranks fourth on the Miami roster with a .267 batting average and also belted three home runs and amassed 19 RBI. He posted a .393 slugging percentage on the season and his on-base percentage of .390 is a team-high for Miami.

Vogelgesang, who started 53 games for Miami this season, ranked first on the team with a .320 batting average. Vogelgesang tied for the team lead in triples with six and also added 12 doubles and three home runs. He has also collected 35 runs scored and 13 RBI. Vogelgesang was big for Miami's offense this season as well, notching 63 hits on the season, which ranks top-10 in the MAC.
The RedHawks went 25-31 overall in the 2021 season, including an 18-22 MAC record.
