Nate Stolze Named to Buster Posey Award Watch List

WICHITA, Kan. -- For his outstanding performance so far in the 2021 campaign, senior catcher Nate Stolze has been named to the 2021 Buster Posey Award watch list, the award given annually to the best catcher in college baseball. Stolze was added to the watch list, along with 80 of the country's best catchers, for his continued success on the diamond, where he has been a force all season long.Â
Getting the majority of play, Stolze has showcased his ability both behind the plate and at the dish. Stolze has just one error while sporting a fielding percentage of .996 while also throwing out ten runners on the basepaths. Along with his ability behind the plate, Stolze has shown an ability to get on base all year long, with a batting average of .269 and an on-base percentage of .374.Â
The final date to add catchers to the watch list is May 5. The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, which will be announced on May 20, 2021. Ballots will be sent to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced on June 7, 2021, with a final vote among the national committee to occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at a date that is yet to be determined.
