Track Has Strong Showing at Oliver Nikoloff Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Miami University men's and women's track and field squads continued their outdoor season with successful results, claiming multiple victories at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at the University of Cincinnati.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elise Walker claimed the top title in the women's high jump, clearing a mark of 1.68 meters. Sarah Bruns wasn't far behind, finishing in second with 1.55 meters.
- In the pole vault, Jack Francetic got the title for the RedHawks, clearing a mark of 4.60 meters.
- Ryan Smith continued his successful season on the field, winning the men's shot put (16.06 meters) and javelin (57.39 meters), along with claiming third in the hammer throw (55.16 meters) and second in the discus (47.37 meters).
- Conall McGinness was the top Miami finisher in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:19.88 to take third place. Chris Torpy also gave Miami success in the distance events, placing second in the 1500 with a time of 3:49.52.
- Olivia Bechtel, the reigning MAC women's track performer of the week, had a strong performance in the 100-meter dash, placing second in a competitive field with a time of 11.84 seconds. De'Yon Brown was successful in the same event on the men's side, winning the title with a time of 10.89 seconds. Bechtel notched a second-place finish in the 200-meter event with a time of 23.88.
- Anthony Camerieri (2nd, 14:45.97) and Charlie Harders (3rd, 14:46:57) finished in the top-three of the men's 5000 meter event, with Harders improving on his collegiate best time by almost 30 seconds.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks will enjoy a week off before traveling to the University of Virginia on April 16 and 17 for the Virginia Relays.
