RedHawks Make it 20 in a Row With 9-4 Win Over Buffalo

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team completed a four-game sweep of the University at Buffalo Bulls by a score of 9-4 on Sunday afternoon for its 20th win in a row. The win streak matches the school record for consecutive wins as the RedHawks improve to 26-6 overall and 16-0 in Mid-American Conference play. Buffalo drops to 9-24, 7-11 MAC.

How it Happened:
  • Like it has done so often this season, the RedHawks jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first. Adriana Barlow picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Karli Spaid scored on a double steal and Kate Kobayashi homered to right field to spot Miami an early 3-0 advantage.
  • Barlow then made it 4-0 Miami with a solo home run in the third.
  • Buffalo scored twice in the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-2, but Miami answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring twice to claim a 6-2 lead. Riley Coyne homered to left and Spaid's single up the middle scored Holly Blaska.
  • Spaid capped her outstanding weekend with a three-run blast in the sixth to put the game out of reach, 9-2.
  • Brianna Pratt picked up the win, throwing 4.0 innings, while striking out eight. Courtney Vierstra came on in relief and struck out three of the seven batters she faced.
