OXFORD, Ohio – Sophomore Peyton Scott's career-high 37 points led the Miami University women's basketball team to a 73-64 win over the Western Michigan Broncos on Wednesday evening at Millett Hall. The win improves Miami to 2-14 overall and 1-11 in Mid-American Conference play. WMU falls to 2-11, 1-10 MAC.
 
Scott was joined in double figures by senior Kelly McLaughlin (10) and freshman Katie Davidson (10). Scott also led the team with 10 rebounds and added five steals and two assists. Her 37 points ranks as the sixth-most in school history, tied with Lauren Dickerson's 37 in 2019 versus Eastern Kentucky.
 
How it Happened:

• Scott scored 10 points in the opening quarter to help Miami to a five-point advantage (20-15) after 10 minutes of action.
• Scott continued her torrid start, finishing the first half with 18 points and five rebounds as the RedHawks led 32-29 as the two teams went to the locker room.
• Davidson scored five quick points to start the third to push Miami's lead to 37-31 before WMU answered with an 8-2 run midway through the quarter to close the gap to 39-37 with 6:40 to play in the third.
• Just as quickly as the Broncos erased the deficit, Miami reclaimed a comfortable advantage. Scott stole an inbounds play for an easy bucket, and moments later senior Abbey Hoff drilled a triple from the corner to put the Red and White up 45-37. Miami entered the fourth quarter up 49-42.
• A gorgeous pass from Hoff to McLaughlin set up an open layup, followed by a pair of free throws from Scott and a fast-break layup from Davidson gave Miami its largest lead of the game, 57-42 with 7:37 remaining.
• The Broncos had one last run, closing to within 65-55, but a Kenzie Schmitz dagger from behind the arc with two minutes to play initiated an eruption from the RedHawks' bench.

 
Game Notes:

• The 37-point, 10-rebound effort by Scott is her fifth double-double of the season. All five have occurred since the calendar changed to January. She also secured her second 30-point outing of the year, previously scoring 34 points versus Northern Illinois.
