KENT, Ohio -- The Miami University women's and men's indoor track and field squad competed in the Kent State Tune-Up on Saturday. While competing against top talent from MAC foes, the RedHawks saw top results on the day.
How it Happened:
- The women's 800-meter event was a highlight for the RedHawks, with Miami grabbing the event's top-three spots. Lotti Roemer (1st, 2:16.70), Emily Akin (2nd, 2:16.98), and McKenna Fry (3rd, 2:17.75) all continued their seasons on a high note.
- Akin also grabbed an individual title, finishing in first in the one-mile event with a time of 4:52.84.
- Distance events were essential for Miami as Ally Suyak earned the title in the women's 3000-meter with a time of 9:58.40 and was the only finisher to finish below the 10-minute mark.
- The relay team with Faith Baxter, Abigail Brown, Mallory Harr, and Marta Cepeda Pérez finished in first in the 4x400-meter relay event with a time of 3:59.19.
- The field competitors saw crucial results in their events at Kent State. Elise Walker finished in second in the high jump with a height of 1.67 meters, and Meg Wilson continued her stellar season in the long jump, also grabbing second while clearing a distance of 5.57 meters. Sydney Jefferson recorded a distance of 17.37 meters in the women's weight throw to finish in second.
- Ryan Smith saw action in two men's field events on the day, finishing in fourth in the shot put (16.02 meters) and fifth in the weight throw (17.09 meters)
