The Miami University baseball team has announced its 2022 schedule, highlighted by a home and home midweek with Indiana, trips to Illinois, UT Martin and Georgia Southern, along with 24 home games at McKie Field.

Following a three-game set at UT Martin, the RedHawks will host Indiana in a Tuesday midweek (Feb. 22) before welcoming in Rider (Feb. 25-27) for a three-game set. The team then heads on the road for another midweek at Indiana before traveling to Georgia Southern (March 4-6) for a three-game set.

Miami begins conference play with back-to-back home series against Bowling Green (March 11-13) and Central Michigan (March 18-20) respectively.

Sandwiched between a pair of away series against Toledo (March 25-27) and Northern Illinois University (April 1-3), the Redhawks compete in the first round of Nuxhall Classic at the University of Cincinnati (March 29), where Miami will face Wright State. Following the series against NIU, Miami will host the second round of the Nuxhall Classic, where their opponent will be determined by the results of round one.

Other home MAC series include Eastern Michigan University (April 8-10), Ohio University (Apr. 29-31), and Ball State (May 19-21). Other away MAC series include at Western Michigan University (April 15-17), at Kent State (April 22-24), and at Akron (May 13-15).

The RedHawks also travel to Illinois (May 6-8) for an out-of-conference series.

Head Coach Danny Hayden returns for his ninth season as head baseball coach, while newcomers Bailey Montgomery, Jeff Opalewski, and Kyle Weldon round out the coaching staff.

Miami returns numerous key bats from the lineup last season, highlighted by Nate Stone and Cole Andrews. Stone hit .271 with six home runs and 30 runs batted in while stealing nine bases last spring. Andrews, who was 2019 First-Team All-MAC & 2021 Second-Team All-MAC, hit .267 with three home runs and drove in 19 runs. Other key returnees include Benji Brokemond, Dalton Back, and Brian Zapp.

On the bump, the RedHawks return Kenten Egbert, Jonathan Brand, and Michael Spinozzi, who look to anchor a RedHawk staff with numerous new faces.

A four-game home series will be slated to start at 3 pm. Fridays. On Saturdays, game one of doubleheaders starts at 1 pm., while game two of the doubleheader starts approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Sunday games start at 1 pm.
