
RedHawks Finish Strong in Miami Invitational

The Miami University swimming & diving team finished the weekend-long Miami Invitational strong on Saturday, Dec. 4. The RedHawks earned the highest overall score above Grand Canyon University and Youngstown State University, with the women's team taking first with a score of 1444 and the men's team taking second with a score of 1145 for a combined total of 2589.

How It Happened:
- The Miami women's team found three first place finishes in individual events across the day along with multiple other top three placements; the men's team also picked up several top three spots.
- Both A relay teams for the RedHawks took second in the 400 freestyle relay, with the women's team of Nicole Maier, Taylor Connors, Maggie Stock and Honor Brodie-Foy earning a time of 3:20.74 (less than 0.10 seconds behind GCU) and the men's team of Pedro Gueiros, Nic Wamsley, Henju Duvenhage and Ben Chatwin grabbing a time of 2:58.51.
- Nicole Maier earned her third first place finish across individual events of the invitational, coming out on top in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.08.
- Natalie Stump kicked off finals picking up first in the 1650 freestyle for the Miami women's team, finishing with a time of 17:17.29. For the men's team, Yonatan Rosin placed third with a15:42.77 time.
- Alexandra Spaczay picked up the RedHawks' other first place victory of the night in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.69. Adrian Dulay took third for the men's team with a time of 2:00.75.
- Other key finishes for Miami came with Angelina Cakuls placing second in the 200 backstroke (1:59.94) and Henju Duvenhage placing third in the 200 butterfly (1:47.24).
- The Miami diving team earned their best placements of the season thus far, with Madeline Lutzko earning second for the women's team with a score of 239.70 in the three meter diving and Jackson Miller also taking second for the men's team in the one meter diving with a score of 276.25.
