Swim and Dive Have Another Good Showing at the Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team continued strong on day three of the Miami University Invitational on Friday, Nov. 21, at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center against seven other teams. After day three the women's team is in first place with 1117 points. Other placements include the University of Notre Dame in second (1110), Indiana State University in third (751.5), Marshall University in fourth (703), the University of Indianapolis in fifth (551), Illinois State University in sixth (385.5), Valparaiso University in seventh (73) and Ouachita Baptist University in eighth (71). The men's team is in third place with 1115 points. Other placements include the University of Notre Dame in first (1192.5), the University of Indianapolis in second (1150.5), the University Ouachita Baptist University in fourth (634) and Valparaiso University in fifth (363).

- Day three kicked off with the women's 100-yard butterfly where Natalie Gilson finished in eighth place, turning in a time of 56.48.
- The men's 100-yard butterfly was next where Duncan Salmen finished third, posting a time of 47.24.
- Up next was the women's 400 IM where Rebekah Gurley finished fourth, earning a time of 4:19.66.
- Michal Piela was second in the men's 400 IM clocking a time of 3:47.35.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle was next where Kaylin Herbet finished seventh, turning in a time of 1:49.44.
- The men's 200-yard freestyle followed where Bryce Menchhofer finished seventh, turning in a time of 1:38.48.
- After that was the women's 100-yard breaststroke where Gilson finished third with a time of 1:01.68.
- The men's 100-yard breaststroke was next where Brady Miller was fifth, earning a time of 54.28.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was next where Ella Ziegert was fourth with a time of 54.66.
- Jensen Nelson was third in the men's 100-yard backstroke, turning in a time of 47.29. Allen Cotton was fourth, posting a time of 48.03.
- Next was the women's 200-yard medley relay where the women's A team finished sixth. Ziegert, Gilson, Herbet and Julia Waechter earned a combined time of 1:41.93.
- Swimming events concluded with the men's 200-yard medley relay where the men's A team finished third. Nelson, Miller, Salmen and Tegan Barrier posted a combined time of 1:26.88.
- For diving events, Sydney Rice finished second in the 1M dive with a score of 270.15. Mia Meinhardt was third, turning in a score of 255.50. Nora Kowalski finished fourth posting a score of 247.05.
- Paul Hong was first in the 3M dive, earning a score of 363.95. Noam Kulbak was second with a score of 362.70. Tuck Gregory finished fourth posting a score of 321.50.
