
RedHawks Continue Through Miami Invitational

The Miami University swimming and diving team continued competition in the Miami Invitational against Grand Canyon University and Youngstown State University in Oxford, Ohio on Friday, Dec. 3. The RedHawks women's team continued to grab first place finishes across numerous events, ending the day in first with a score of 1034, with GCU in second and YSU in third. The Miami men's team also earned key placements in their events, heading into the final day of the invitational in second with a score of 794, below GCU and above YSU. Together, the RedHawks are in first with a combined score of 1828 followed by GCU and again by YSU.

How It Happened:
- The Miami women's A relay teams took first in both relay events of the day, earning a time of 1:40.15 in the 200 medley relay and 7:24.59 in the 800 freestyle relay. The men's A relay teams took second in the 200 medley relay (1:29.70) and third in the 800 freestyle relay (6:43.73).
- Both the Miami men's and women's teams found top three placements in multiple individual events. The women's team placed at least third in all competitions of the day while the men's did the same in three of theirs.
- RedHawk swimmers picked up four first place finishes for the women's team across their five individual events; Honor Brodie-Foy in the 100 butterfly (54.30), Nicole Maier in the 400 individual medley (4:12.59), Erin Szczupakiewicz in the 200 freestyle (1:51.14) and Madeline Padavic in the 100 backstroke (54.52). All final times were improvements on the swimmers' preliminary times.
- Key placements for the RedHawks men's team include Uros Djokovic taking third in the 200 freestyle (1:39.26), Adrian Dulay taking second in the 100 breaststroke (55.29) and Owen Blazer taking second in the 100 backstroke (49.23).
- For the Miami diving teams, the highest placements for the RedHawks both scored higher in finals than preliminaries. Madeline Lutzko and Karsten Dixon both finished fourth in their respective events, with Lutzko scoring 216.50 in the one meter diving and Dixon scoring 271.70 in the three meter diving.
