REDHAWKS COME UP SHORT AT LOYOLA CHICAGO: The RedHawks' offense struggled all afternoon to find its rhythm in a 69-52 loss last Sunday to Loyola Chicago. In the loss,
Katie Davidson had a season-high 14 points and
Edyn Battle (10) and
Katey Richason (6) each posted career-best in points.
TEN MINUTES OF YOUR TIME: Coach Hendrix was in search of the proper team on the court all afternoon at Loyola. In all, 12 different players played at least 10 minutes of action.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT: In the loss at LUC, junior
Peyton Scott had just six points on 2-of-7 shooting. In her last 37 contests, Scott has more 30 point games (5) then under 10 point games (3).
GET THE WINDEX: Miami's rebounding numbers have been all over the map early in the season. In the season opener, the RedHawks out-rebounded Valpo 44-19 and then went to Illinois (47-33) and Xavier (39-24) and dominated the glass in both contest. In the past two games, Miami has been out-rebounded by a total of 77-69.Â
BALANCING ACT: While
Peyton Scott (19.6) and
Ivy Wolf (11.4) are getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of seven players averaging at least 4.8 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 5.0 points per game.
ABOUT EVANSVILLE: Evansville is 4-2 on the year, but is coming off an 85-77 loss versus Murray State on Wednesday. Abby Feit (21.0) and Ja'Naiya Davis (20.7) combine for 41.7 points per game. Feit is tops on the team with 9.7 rebounds per contest as well.
SERIES WITH PURPLE ACES: This is the fifth meeting all-time between the two schools, with the series tied at 2-2. Evansville won last season on its home court, 66-60, while the RedHawks captured a 72-64 victory during the 2019-20 campaign.
GREAT SCOTT: Known as "P" amongst her teammates, junior guard
Peyton Scott has accomplished more than most through two years of play.
• Has scored 982 points and is just 18 points away from becoming the 27th RedHawk to surpass 1,000 points in their career.
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
NEW FACES: Miami played several games a year ago with as few as seven players and will have 15 in 2021-22. In all, Miami welcomes four new freshmen in
Clare Chambers,
Maddi Cluse,
Ivy Wolf and
Katey Richason.
Sydney Watkins and
Edyn Battle return after missing last season with an injury and
Tajah Foster-Walker and
Jordan Tuff, two transfers join the RedHawks as well.
