WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Ivy Wolf scored a game-high 19 points and
Peyton Scott added 18 in a near upset over the Purdue Boilermakers, falling 82-76 on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops Miami to 4-5 overall, while Purdue improves to 8-4 on the season.
Trailing 58-52 to begin the fourth quarter, a
Maddi Cluse layup followed by a triple from Wolf closed the gap to within one, but Purdue answered with a 10-2 run as the RedHawks could get no closer.
How it Happened:
- A Katie Davidson triple at the buzzer cut Purdue's lead to 22-20 after one quarter of play. Amani Freeman had five points and three boards in the first 10 minutes of play.
- Miami's offense struggled to begin the second quarter, scoring just three points in the first five minutes of play. Purdue took advantage, extending its lead to 41-28. A Jordan Tuff bucket late in the quarter sent both teams to the locker room with the Boilermakers leading 41-30.
- Back-to-back three pointers from Edyn Battle and Katie Davidson midway through the third quarter pulled the Red and White to within 51-49, forcing a Purdue timeout. The Boilermakers scored the game's next seven points to push their advantage to 58-49, but a triple from Scott as the clock expired made it 58-52 with 10 minutes to play.
- A Maddi Cluse layup and an Ivy Wolf three pointer to begin the final stanza got Miami to within one at 58-57 but could get no closer.
Game Notes:
- Amani Freeman had a career-high four blocks and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
