Women's Basketball

RedHawks Host WKU on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball looks to make it three wins in a row as it hosts Western Kentucky on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m.

HOME SWEET HOME: After opening the season with four of its first five games on the road, the Red Hawks are in the middle of a home stand that features five contests inside Millett Hall in a six-game stretch.

NEW YEAR, NEW RESULTS: The RedHawks are 4-3 on the year, already matching last year's win total (went 4-20 last season). Miami got its fourth win of the season last year on Feb. 27.

REDHAWKS DOWN EASTERN KENTUCKY 80-62: The Miami University women's basketball led start-to-finish in an 80-62 win over Eastern Kentucky University on Sunday afternoon at Millett Hall. Ivy Wolf was tops on the squad with 16 points, while Peyton Scott and Maddi Cluse each added 13. Scott added a team-high 11 rebounds and five assists. Edyn Battle chipped in with a career-high 11 points.

THIRD TIMES THE CHARM: A win on Wednesday would give Miami its third straight victory. The last time Miami won three consecutive contests was during the 2019-20 campaign (Feb. 1-5 -- at BG, vs. WMU, vs. Toledo).

BALANCING ACT: While Peyton Scott (19.4) and Ivy Wolf (11.9) are getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 4.3 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has six additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all, Ivy Wolf, Maddi Cluse, Edyn Battle, Tajah Foster-Walker, Jordan Tuff and Katey Richason are combining for 36.5 points and 17.0 rebounds per game.

ABOUT WESTERN KENTUCKY: The Lady Toppers had a four-game win streak snapped back on Dec. 5 in a 76-72 loss to Tennessee Tech and are 5-4 on the year. Meral Abdelgawad is tops on the team at 16.3 points  and 8.7 rebounds per game. Point guard Alexis Mead is averaging 12.0 points per game and is tops on the team with 29 assists.

SERIES WITH LADY TOPPERS: Miami is 0-4 all-time versus Western Kentucky and 0-2 inside Millett Hall. These two squads last competed back in 2018-19, a contest WKU won 67-63 at Millett Hall.

GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished more than most through just over two years of play.
• Has scored 1,020 points and ranks 26th all-time on Miami's scoring list.
• She currently ranks sixth in the MAC in scoring (19.4), 14th in rebounding (6.9), fifth in assists (4.4), fifth in field goal percentage (.515) and ninth in three-point percentage (.438).
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
• In her last 39 contests, Scott has more 30 point games (5) then under 10 point games (3).
