OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 70-59 decision to Northern Kentucky University on Wednesday evening at Millett Hall. The loss moves the RedHawks to 2-2 overall, while the Norse improve to 3-2 on the season.
Peyton Scott was the lone RedHawk in double figures with 24 points as the RedHawks threatened to erase a 21-point, fourth quarter deficit.
How it Happened:
- NKU led 20-11 after 10 minutes of play as the RedHawks struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting just 4-for-16 in the opening quarter.
- With Scott on the bench with a pair of fouls, the RedHawks cut the NKU lead to just four at 25-21 with three minutes left in the half. The Norse closed on a 6-2 run and led 31-23 at the half.
- The Norse score the first nine points of the third and raced out to a 40-23 advantage, forcing a DeUnna Hendrix timeout. Miami's 7-2 run cut the deficit to 13 and a Scott triple made it 46-36, but NKU answered with a three-pointer of their own at the end of the third quarter and led 49-36.
- NKU seemed to have a strangle-hold on the contest, leading by as many as 21 points in the final quarter, before a valiant RedHawk comeback cut the discrepancy to nine at 65-57 with 1:30 to play, but could get no closer.
