FULL ROSTER: After playing much of the 2020-21 season with between seven and 10 players, the RedHawks have a full roster (15) to begin the season. Miami welcomes back two players that opted out last season, two returning from injury and four newcomers.
GREAT SCOTT:
Peyton Scott was second-team All-MAC a year ago after averaging 21.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.7 steals per game last season. She ranked in the top-10 in six different MAC categories and scored double digits in 23 of 24 contests.
RECAPPING WIN OVER VALPO: Ivy Wolf and
Peyton Scott combined to score 41 points as the Miami University women's basketball team opened the season with an 85-60 win on the road at Valparaiso.
Jada Duckett had her first career double-double, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Tajah Foster-Walker had a game-high 11 boards.
CLEAN THE GLASS: The RedHawks outrebounded Valpo 44-19 in the win. Miami had 20 offensive rebounds in the game that led to 20 second-chance points. In all, Miami had 48 points in the paint, compared to the Crusader's 32.
ABOUT ILLINOIS: Illinois is coming off a 73-56 win over North Carolina Central. Aaliyah Nye led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Kendall Bostic had 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.Â
SERIES WITH ILLINOIS: Miami is 2-3 all-time versus the Illini. The last time these two schools met was in the WNIT during the 2012-13 campaign. Illinois won that contest 73-60.
WITH A CAPITAL P: Known as "P" amongst her teammates, junior guard
Peyton Scott has accomplished more than most through two years of play.
• Has scored 902 points and is just 98 points away from becoming the 27th RedHawk to surpass 1,000 points in their career.
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: Ivy Wolf had one of the best collegiate debuts in Miami women's basketball history, scoring 23 points at Valpo. When compared to other Miami greats, Wolf is near the top.

Edyn Battle return after missing last season with an injury and
Tajah Foster-Walker and
Jordan Tuff, two transfers join the RedHawks as well.
INSTANT IMPACT: Seven different players that were not with the RedHawks last season played in the season opener and five of those players contributed to the scoresheet. In all, the newcomers combined to score 45 points.
MIAMI'S OWN KD: Katie Davidson had an incredible start to her Miami career, finishing 2020-21 with 11.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while starting all 24 contests. She scored double digit points in 15 contests and had at least five rebounds in 10 different games.
