ATHENS, Ohio – Going up against the current leaders of the Mid-American Conference, the Miami University women's soccer team (7-6-3; 4-4-0 Mid-American Conference) was defeated by the Ohio University (10-3-2; 6-0-2 MAC) at Chessa Field on Sunday afternoon, 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami put the defense of Ohio University under pressure by registering seven shots, four on target, by the 45-minute mark.
- Despite tremendous efforts from the RedHawks in the first half, the score remained 0-0.
- After over an hour of play, Miami matched Ohio in terms of shots (8), shots on goal (4) and corners (2) but neither team managed to find the net.
- At 75:41, Ohio broke the deadlock with the first and only goal of the match, making it 1-0.
NOTES:
- Among the seven shots taken by Miami in the first half, five were from inside the penalty area, and, among which three were from the edge of the six-yard box.
- Izzie Vaccari added five saves to take her tally, breaking the 50-save mark for the 2021 season.
- Junior Keara Kerr was handed the first start of the season.
