OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University women's tennis team will be in action Sunday at Indiana University as the RedHawks take on the Hoosiers at 5 p.m. in Bloomington.
LAST TIME OUT
The RedHawks (4-6) dropped both of their matches last weekend, falling to Winthrop 7-0 on Saturday and then Marshall 6-1 the next day.
Makenzie Myers picked up Miami's only singles win against the Herd and nearly had another against Winthrop, falling in a tight third-set tiebreak.
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK
Miami racked up its third Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week award this past week as
Milana Lysova and
Laura Rico picked up the honor. The duo defeated Marshall's top-ranked doubles team at first doubles, a pairing that was ranked #52 in the nation at the time.
SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
Indiana is 9-6 so far in 2020, with wins over common opponents in Xavier and Cincinnati and wins over MAC teams Ball State and Western Michigan. Three of Indiana's losses were against ranked opponents in Tennessee, Northwestern, and Notre Dame. Caitlin Bernard is IU's top singles player, holding a 6-4 record at number one singles. Michelle McKamey holds the best record on the team with a 9-1 mark in dual play, mostly at fourth singles. The doubles team of Andrinopou/Bozovic is 5-1 at first doubles.
SERIES HISTORY
The RedHawks are 1-36 all-time against Indiana, including a 4-0 defeat last season.
LOOKING AHEAD
The RedHawks will begin conference play in two weeks, opening the MAC season at Ball State as the 'Hawks look to retain their conference title. The match at BSU will be Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m.
