
Miami Men Tied for Lead after Day One of MAC Championships

The RedHawks are tied with Missouri State with 74 points after the first day of competition at the MAC Championships.
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Miami University men's swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships on Wednesday on the campus of Southern Illinois. Miami is tied for first with 74 points after day one.
The RedHawks began the championships with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:27.21), swimming the third-fastest time in program history. Cole Grosshans, Noah Barr, Nic Wamsley and Nick Ward earned the victory.
Miami finished second in the 800 free relay, posting the fourth-fastest time in program history (6:35.42). Austin Theobald, Gordon Wheeler, Diego Valentim and Ward swam the relay for the 'Hawks.
The 2020 MAC Championships continue on Thursday with swimming prelims beginning at 11:30 a.m. for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. Diving prelims for the 1-mtr dive start at 2 p.m. with the 1-mtr dive consolations immediately following the conclusion of prelims. Finals for all events plus the 200 free relay will commence at 7:30 p.m.
