Miami Hosts Akron for Alumnae Day

The RedHawk women kick off a tripleheader with men's basketball and hockey.

ON TAP: Miami (11-16, 4-11 Mid-American Conference) hosts Akron (13-13, 6-9 MAC) on Saturday for alumnae and donor appreciation day. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. as the game begins a tripleheader with men's basketball and hockey. Fans can listen to the game on The Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner and watch on ESPN3.

ALUMNAE/DONOR APPRECIATION DAY: Miami women's basketball welcomes alumnae and donors to the game as special guests. Alumnae will be recognized on the court during halftime. There will also be Carnival on the Concourse.

LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks could not overcome a slow start at Buffalo on Wednesday, ultimately falling to the Bulls by an 88-72 margin. Lauren Dickerson broke the program record for 20-point games (49) as she led the Miami offense with 24 points. Savannah Kluesner also recorded a 20-point game, scoring 21 points and leading the roster with seven rebounds. Peyton Scott rounded out the RedHawks' double-figure scorers with 14 points. Dickerson leads the RedHawks' offense with 17.4 points per game while Kluesner (15.8 ppg) and Scott (12.7 ppg) also average double figures. Kluesner leads the roster with 8.6 rebounds per game. Miami ranks second in the MAC in turnover margin (3.22), blocks per game (3.81) and steals per game (9.11).
 
ABOUT AKRON: The Zips lost to Kent State on Wednesday by a 68-50 margin, snapping a three-game win streak. The Golden Flashes had a seven-point lead going into the fourth quarter but Akron was held to just four points during the final 10 minutes of play. Jordyn Dawson was the lone Zips player to reach double figures, scoring 17 points, and also led the team with eight rebounds. Haliegh Reinoehl leads the Akron offense this season, averaging 14.9 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game while Dawson also averages double figures with 13 points per game. The Zips have the second-best three-point defense (.297).

SERIES WITH THE ZIPS: Miami leads the all-time series with Akron 39-17 and 20-9 inside Millett Hall. The Zips snapped a six-game RedHawks' win streak in the series on January 22. Akron won the game by a 70-62 margin. Dickerson and Kluesner both recorded 20-point games in this season's previous meeting, with Kluesner also getting the double-double with 13 rebounds.

LOOKING AHEAD: The RedHawks remain in Oxford on Wednesday as Miami hosts Bowling Green for senior and fan appreciation night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
