These meets will be Miami's last before the MAC Championship.
OXFORD, Ohio - With just one week to go until the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, the Miami University track and field team will be off at two seperate meets Saturday.
The RedHawks will send a group of runners to Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational on a return trip after visiting South Bend for the Meyo Invite a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, several other Miami athletes will stay closer to home and head to Wittenberg's Steemer Showcase in Springfield.
Last weekend, the 'Hawks ran at Grand Valley State's Big Meet and had a multitude of PRs across the board as many RedHawks put together some of their best weekends on the track yet. However, the biggest star of the weekend was Olivia Bechtel, who split off to Boston to compete in BU's Valentine Invitational. Bechtel set school records in both the 200 and 400 as she finished near the top of the standings in both of the highly competitive races.
This week, Bechtel and several other Miami athletes will be at Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish's Alex Wilson Invitational. The meet there will get underway at 11 a.m. with prelims on the track and the start of the throwing events. Proceedings will run throughout the day, with the 4x400 relays capping the day at 3:30 p.m.
In Springfield, another pack of RedHawks will be at Wittenberg's Steemer Showcase. This meet is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. with a rolling schedule throughout the day.
These meets will serve as Miami's final warmup before the conference championship next week. Hosted by Akron, this year's conference meet will run from Feb. 28-29.
