ABOUT PURDUE FORT WAYNE
The Mastodons are under a new coaching staff this season after finishing 2019 with a 7-45 record. They have already shown improvement after a 3-1 opening weekend against Longwood, scoring at least eight runs in each of their four games. Purdue Fort Wayne's top returning player is redshirt senior third baseman/designated hitter Garrett Moehler. He hit .285 with six home runs and 26 RBIs in 2019. All three of its projected starters this season are seniors. Sunday starter Tyler Kissinger is coming off a zero-run, three-hit performance in 6.1 innings of work in a victory over Longwood last weekend.
SERIES WITH PURDUE FORT WAYNE
Miami holds a 4-2 lead in the all-time series with Purdue Fort Wayne. The teams last met 12 years ago, on March 13, 2008 in Bradenton, Florida. Despite Tyler Melling allowing only one run and two hits in 6.1 innings, the Mastodons earned a 1-0 win in a pitcher's duel.
