RedHawks Capture 67-49 Win Against Valparaiso

OXFORD, Ohio- The Miami University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack and a stellar defensive effort to defeat Valparaiso, 67-49, on Tuesday night at Millett Hall. Valparaiso, coming off back-to-back wins over Illinois and Purdue drops to 2-2 on the season while Miami picks up its first win and is now 1-1 this year.
Overall four different RedHwks scored in double figures, while Miami's defense held Valparaiso to 31.6 percent shooting and outrebounded the Crusaders 50-26.
How It Happened:Â
- Senior forward Kelly McLaughlin led all Miami scorers and posted her first double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Â
- Sophomore guard Peyton Scott and freshman guard/forward Katie Davidson continued their hot starts to the season, combining for 28 points--14 apiece--to add to the RedHawks' overall total.Â
- Redshirt senior Abbey Hoff put up a solid performance with 12 points and seven rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field.Â
- Defensively, the RedHawks held the Crusaders to 10 points or less in two separate quarters, almost doubling Valparaiso's score by the end of the first half.Â
