Miami Takes Short Trip to Muncie on Saturday

The RedHawks play at Ball State at 1 p.m.

ON TAP: Miami (8-10, 1-5 MAC) wraps up its two-game road trip with a quick trip to Muncie, Ind. on Saturday. Tip-off against Ball State is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on The Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner and watch on ESPN3.

LAST TIME OUT: Miami fell at Akron on Wednesday by a 70-62 margin despite 20-point games by both Lauren Dickerson and Savannah Kluesner. Kluesner also recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds. The RedHawks cut the Zips' advantage down to as little as one point in the second half but could not take the lead back. This season, Dickerson leads Miami's offense with 15.9 points per game while Kluesner leads the RedHawks on the boards with 8.7 rebounds per game. Miami leads the conference in blocks (69), averaging 3.83 per game and second in offensive rebounds (251), averaging 13.9 per game.
 
ABOUT BALL STATE: The Cardinals hold a 12-6 overall record and a 4-2 record in conference games. On Wednesday, Ball State beat Buffalo by a 69-65 margin. The Bulls held a three-point lead at halftime but a big third quarter by the Cardinals gave them a double-figure lead going into the final quarter of play. Oshlynn Brown led Ball State with a double-double (24 points, 11 rebounds) while three other Cardinal players scored in double figures. Brown is the lone Ball State player averaging double figures this season, leading the team with 13.3 points per game. She also leads Ball State with 9.3 rebounds per game. The Cardinals have the best scoring and field goal defense in the MAC and rank second in rebounding offense and defensive rebounds.
 
SERIES WITH THE CARDINALS: Miami holds the 41-26 all-time lead in the series with Ball State, though the Cardinals have the 19-13 edge when the teams meet in Muncie. Last season, Miami beat Ball State by a 60-57 margin inside Millett Hall. Dickerson recorded her first career double-double, scoring 24 points and getting 11 rebounds. Kluesner was the other RedHawk in double figures, putting up 18. The RedHawks trailed by three points at the half but forced 21 Ball State turnovers during the game to make up the deficit. Brown was the lone Cardinal to reach double figures but recorded a double-double (24 points, 10 rebounds).

LOOKING AHEAD: The RedHawks return home to host Western Michigan on Wednesday to welcome back students for the spring semester. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
