Miami Travels to Akron Wednesday

The RedHawks and Zips are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.

ON TAP: Miami (8-9, 1-4 MAC) begins its two-game road trip on Wednesday as the RedHawks visit Akron. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on The Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner and watch on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks fell to Kent State by a 78-75 margin on Saturday after having a late 75-74 lead. Miami held a lead early in the first quarter before a sharp-shooting three-point stretch for the Golden Flashes gave the RedHawks a double-digit deficit. Miami rallied to take a 75-74 lead with eight seconds remaining but a pair of free throws and a late steal by KSU handed Miami a loss. Lauren Dickerson led the RedHawk offense with 18 points while Savannah Kluesner and Abbey Hoff each had 11 points. Hoff led the team with six boards. Dickerson leads the offense this season with 15.7 points per game as part of a trio of Miami players averaging double figures.

ABOUT AKRON: The Zips are also 1-4 in Mid-American Conference games, having lost the past two games by five points or less. On Saturday, Akron fell to Northern Illinois by a 70-65 margin as the Huskies picked up their first MAC win. The Zips faced a two-point deficit at halftime but led after three quarters. The Huskies re-gained the lead two minutes into the final quarter of play. Akron would get within one but could not take the lead. Haliegh Reinoehl led Akron's roster with 19 points and nine rebounds. Shaunay Edmonds and Kendall Miller scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Reinoehl leads the Akron offense this season with 14.4 points per game and leads on the boards with 7.9 rebounds per game. The Zips offense is averaging 67.4 points per game this season while the defense holds opponents to just 65.6 points per game.

SERIES WITH THE ZIPS: Miami holds a 39-16 lead in the all-time series with Akron and is on a six-game win streak. Last season, the RedHawks earned a 67-61 road victory before winning by a 66-49 margin in the regular-season finale in Millett Hall. Dickerson and Kluesner were Miami's double-figure scorers in the finale, putting up 19 and 14 points, respectively. In the February road contest, Dickerson had a game-high 15 points. Kluesner recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

LOOKING AHEAD: The RedHawks are on the road again this weekend, making the short trip to Muncie, Ind. to take on Ball State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
