OXFORD, Ohio – Miami soccer has a lot in store surrounding its non-conference finale against Xavier on Friday.
In addition to taking on the Musketeers at 4 p.m., the RedHawks are naming their newly renovated stadium after former head coach Bobby Kramig. The ceremony honoring the winningest women's soccer head coach in Mid-American Conference history will take place at roughly 3:30 p.m.
Miami dropped a tight, 1-0 decision at Ohio State last Friday to drop to 1-5 on the season.
Izzie Vaccari made eight saves to keep the Red & White within a goal of the Buckeyes throughout the contest as she has made four-straight starts and owns a 1.27 goals against average and her .813 save percentage is fourth among MAC goalkeepers.
Xavier enters play with a 5-1-2 record and riding a four-match unbeaten streak during which it has outscored opponents 7-0. Samantha Dewey's seven goals and 17 points are tops on the team. In goal, Toni Bizzaro (0.68 goals against average, .850 save percentage) and Olivia Jenkins (0.91 goals against average, .667 save percentage) have equally divided the duties. The Musketeers have notched five shutouts this season.

All-Time Series: Miami is 3-4 all-time against Xavier and dropped a 2-0 road decision to the Musketeers last season.
Tight Late: While the results haven't quite been there to this point, Miami has found itself in every match well into the second half of contests. The RedHawks have entered halftime tied or within a goal in all five contests as it tries to get its offense going.
Youth Will Be Served: The RedHawks boast an incredibly young roster with 20 of their 24 players being freshmen or sophomores. Of the 15 Miami players to see the pitch in at least five of the team's six contests, 12 are freshmen or sophomores.
Keeping it Close: Miami's non-conference schedule is not only confined entirely to the Ohio Valley, it's nearly entirely in the Buckeye State itself. Five of MU's seven non-conference tilts are against in-state foes (Dayton, Wright State, Cleveland State, Ohio State and Xavier) while its other two (Morehead State and Kentucky) are within 150 miles of Oxford.
What's for the Encore: At 11 players (not including transfer
Izzie Vaccari), Miami's sophomore class is its largest group on the roster. The bulk of them saw extensive playing time as freshmen, combining for 30 points, 113 matches played and 89 starts among the returning sophomores. The three top minute getters for the Red & White last year were freshmen.
