The RedHawks face Michigan and Navy on Friday and Saturday.

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University swimming and diving team opens the 2019-20 season with a two-day meet in Ann Arbor, Mich. The RedHawks face both Michigan and Navy on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.

Miami held its annual Red & White meet on Saturday. Camila Lins de Mello and Molly Zilch led the women with four and three event wins, respectively. On the men's side, Nick Ward, Diego Valentim, Sam Curran and Spencer Klinsky led the squad with two wins apiece. At the Red & White meet, 27 different athletes won an event with nine newcomers included in that tally.

Head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron enters her fourth year in charge of the program. Diving coach KongRong Li begins his 13^th season in charge of diving. Associate head coach Zach Hinsley begins his first season as associate head coach and his third at Miami. Assistant coach Jake Larson enters his second year. Tyler Coffing will be coaching in his first year at Miami as an assistant coach as will Nikola Andjelic as the student assistant coach.

OPPONENT PREVIEW

MICHIGAN: The Michigan women's team was a perfect 8-0 last season in dual meets in addition to winning the UGA Fall Invitational and the Orange Bowl Classic. The Wolverines also beat two ranked opponents in No. 14 Indiana and No. 22 Ohio State en route to a perfect conference record during the regular season. The Michigan women finished second at the Big Ten Championships and third at the NCAA Championships.

The Michigan men's team went 7-1 in dual meets last season, its only loss coming against No. 3 Indiana. The Wolverines finished first at the Orange Bowl Classic and second at the UGA Fall Invitational. The Michigan men went 4-1 against conference opponents in 2018-19 and finished second at the Big Ten Championships. The Wolverines also finished 13^th at the NCAA Championships.

NAVY: The Navy women's team finished with a 10-3 record in dual meets last season, including a nine-meet win streak during the first portion of the season. Navy won the Liberty Invitational during the regular season before capturing the Patriot League Championship and the ECAC Championship. The Navy women's team finished fifth out of 47 teams at the CSCAA National Invitational and made program and conference history with an athlete being named Honorable Mention All-America at the NCAA Championships.

The Navy men's team finished the 2018-19 season with an 11-3 dual meet record. The Navy men also put together a nine-meet win streak during the first semester. Navy finished third at House of Champions, an invitational hosted by IUPUI. The Navy men's team won the Patriot League Championship and ECAC Championship and made program and conference history with a diver being named Honorable Mention All-America at the NCAA Championships.

UP AHEAD: Miami has next week off from competition before the women host Akron on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. The RedHawk men will compete in an intrasquad meet at that time.
