ABOUT TOLEDO
The Rockets are 9-15 overall and 0-4 in the MAC. Last weekend due to rain and cold temperatures, they were only able to play one game of their series with Western Michigan, which the Broncos won 6-3. On Wednesday, Toledo faced off against Michigan, dropping an 8-2 decision. The Rockets have some strong hitters on their team, led by senior outfielder Brad Boss. He is hitting .362 with three home runs and 23 RBIs. Their best pitcher so far has been junior right-hander Layne Schnitz-Paxton, who will throw on Saturday against the RedHawks. He is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 34.2 innings pitched.
SERIES WITH TOLEDO
Miami holds a 92-32-1 record in the all-time series with Toledo. Last season in Oxford, March 30-April 1, 2018, the RedHawks took two out of three from the Rockets. Miami earned a pair of walk off wins on Friday (8-7) and Sunday (7-6), but Toledo took the middle game, 8-4.
UP AHEAD
The annual Nuxhall Classic is up next for Miami beginning on Tuesday. This year's tournament is hosted by Cincinnati. The RedHawks will face Wright State at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The game between Xavier and UC will follow at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday if Miami takes on Xavier it will be at 3 p.m. and if it faces the Bearcats it will be at 6:30 p.m. That is regardless if the 'Hawks are playing the championship or consolation game.
