The Miami University baseball team welcomes back several alumni for this weekend as it honors its past All-MAC selections. Northern Illinois is the RedHawks' opponent for the three-game series. Friday's game is at 5 p.m. Saturday's game will start at 4 p.m. and first pitch for Sunday's contest is at 1 p.m. All games will air on RedHawks All-Access for those who have a subscription.
ABOUT NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Northern Illinois is 12-28 overall and 8-7 in the MAC. The Huskies have dropped their past three games since knocking off Kent State, 17-11, in an offensive slug-fest last Friday. They fell to the Golden Flashes on Saturday (11-10) and Sunday (10-3), before falling to Illinois State, 10-2, on Tuesday. NIU has been at its best in high-scoring affairs. Its top offensive player is junior catcher Jake Dunham. He is batting .292 with four home runs and 29 RBIs. Friday starter Erik Hedmark has been the Huskies top pitcher this season. The freshman left-hander is 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched.
SERIES WITH NORTHERN ILLINOISÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Miami holds a 39-23-1 lead in the all-time series with Northern Illinois. The Huskies took two out of three from the RedHawks April 20-22, 2018 in DeKalb. They were the only team to win a MAC series against Miami last year. The games were low scoring with NIU earning a 5-2 victory on Friday and a 2-1 win on Saturday. The RedHawks came back to take a 5-1 victory in the series finale on Sunday.
UP AHEAD
The RedHawks have a pair of midweek games next week. Miami will travel to Xavier on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. contest. The 'Hawks then return home to take on Ohio State on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Next weekend, the Red and White travel to Ohio for a three-game series with the rival Bobcats. The game on Friday, May 3 will begin at 6 p.m. The Saturday, May 4 game starts at 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 first pitch will be at 1 p.m.
