OXFORD, Ohio – Construction has begun for the multi-million dollar renovation of Miami University's Women's Varsity Soccer Complex, designed by MSA Sport. The work is being performed by Megen Construction Company, Inc. and began earlier this week.
The project will provide a new, distinct stadium entrance and plaza for fans that will connect back to the surrounding athletic campus from the east side of Yager Stadium. The complex will become an additional unifying element in this part of campus through its new architecture and materials. In addition, the complex will receive a new 700 seat bleacher structure and a complete re-skin and renovation of the existing press box. Technology upgrades and the infrastructure for new LED sports field lighting will enhance TV media/production and game day experience. The design also allows for future support buildings that could contain permanent concessions and locker/team rooms to be constructed.
"This is a crucial project that has been years in the making for Miami Soccer," Athletic Director David Sayler said. "We are grateful for the passionate support of our soccer alums and President Greg Crawford to get this project moving. This will be a facility that matches the championship history of the soccer program and gives our current team a field they can be proud to call home."
This groundbreaking constitutes the culmination of several years of comprehensive studies, planning and collaboration between Miami University and MSA Sport, that date back to 2014. When finished, it will be one of the premier soccer venues in the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA.
