OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University baseball team could not overcome a hot-hitting Xavier offense as it fell, 13-4, on Tuesday. The RedHawks are now 30-10 overall, while the Musketeers are 17-23.

It was three big innings that did in Miami, as Xavier scored two in the first and four in the third to jump to a 6-0 lead. Things settled down for a bit before the Musketeers put up seven in the top of the sixth to complete their scoring.

The RedHawks were able to get on the board with four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Sophomore center fielder Parker Massman led off and was hit by a pitch. With one out, he stole second. A single by junior shortstop Colin Shepherd moved him over to third. Junior second baseman Landon Stephens scored Massman with a single through the right side. Redshirt junior third baseman Jordan Stephens followed with a triple that brought home both Shepherd and Landon Stephens. Jordan Stephens made it 13-4 when he scored off a wild pitch.

Landon Stephens finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Jordan Stephens was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.

Miami welcomes Northern Illinois to McKie Field at Hayden Park for Alumni Weekend this weekend. The game on Friday begins at 5 p.m. On Saturday the game will start at 4 p.m., while on Sunday first pitch is at 1 p.m. All three games will air live on RedHawks All-Access for those who have a subscription.
