A Miami contingent will also head to Virginia in a split-squad weekend.
OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University track and field team will embark on a split-squad weekend this Friday and Saturday, including the RedHawk Invitational, hosted this Saturday in Oxford. In addition, several RedHawk athletes will travel to Charlottesville to participate in the Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
Miami is coming off a weekend of competition at the Ball State Challenge in Muncie, Ind. The RedHawks got event wins from the likes of Olivia Bechtel, Emily Hooker, Mallory Harr, and Hannah Falcione on the women's side, while Jeremiah Hunter, Sean Torpy, Seth Conroy, and Kenny Glenn were some of the big winners from the men's team.
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE
Some of MU's top athletes will head to the University of Virginia to compete against strong field with several Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten schools in attendance. To see the list of athletes headed to Virginia, go to the Virginia live results page listed above and click 'Athletes'.Â
The schedule at UVA will include two busy days of events, starting with a morning session on Friday at 11 a.m. that includes Danielle Collier in the women's javelin as well as the first few sections of the 400m. The Friday evening main event will kick off at 5:45 p.m., with those events being broadcast on ESPN3. Saturday's morning session is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. start, with the evening session at 6:00 p.m., again broadcast on ESPN3. The full event schedule is listed above.
REDHAWK INVITATIONAL
The RedHawk Invitational will be the second home meet of the season for Miami at the George Rider Track, following the Blizzard Buster that kicked off the outdoor season back in March. Five teams will be in attendance in Oxford, including three fellow Mid-American Conference squads in Bowling Green, Toledo, and Western Michigan (women's only). Cedarville and Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) will also send athletes to Oxford.Â
The meet will kick off at with field events starting at 9:00 a.m., while festivities on the track get underway at 10:30 a.m. with the 5K and conclude around 2:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relays. The full event schedule and start lists are posted above.
