The local rivals will face off at 10 a.m. in Hamilton.
OXFORD, Ohio - After a trip south to Florida, the Miami University women's tennis team will return home this weekend to host the Raiders of Wright State on Saturday. The match will take place indoors at Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, with first serve scheduled for 10 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The RedHawks dropped two matches against a pair of strong opponents, falling to #27 UCF last Friday and then dropping a 5-2 decision against the Penn Quakers in Orlando Saturday. Priyana Kalita and Melati Devi were the bright spots for the 'Hawks, with both sophomores earning singles victories against the Quakers.
MATCHUP WITH THE RAIDERS
WSU has played a busy non-conference schedule to the tune of an 8-8 record coming into Saturday's match and has won five of its last six. The Raiders and 'Hawks share three common opponents, with each side falling to Cincinnati and Xavier and defeating Western Kentucky. In addition, Wright St. has losses to two Mid-American Conference foes in Western Michigan and Bowling Green. The Raiders are led by a freshman at the top of the lineup in Andreea Craciun at first singles, while Haily Morgan and Luisa Pelayo round out the rest of the top three. The RedHawks hold a commanding 16-0 series lead all-time vs. Wright State.
LOOKING AHEAD
Saturday's match will be the last non-conference match of the season for the RedHawks before Mid-American Conference play gets underway, barring a one-match break vs. Dayton on April 6 in the middle of the conference season. The RedHawks will have a difficult start to MAC play, taking trips next weekend to take on the 14-3 Akron Zips and defending champion Buffalo.
