LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Miami University softball team fell 9-1 on Tuesday to No. 18 Kentucky. Miami falls to 10-8 on the season while Kentucky improves to 16-7.

Miami got on the board first as
Morgan Lott began the game with a triple down the right field line.
Jenny Vasquez drew a walk and an
Ashton Slone double down the left field line brought home Lott for a 1-0 RedHawks lead. After a Miami ground out,
Jada Dotson was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but a Kentucky double play brought the inning to an end.

Kentucky answered with three runs in the bottom of the first as their first five batters reach safely. The Wildcats added a single run in the second and four more in the third inning. UK added a final run in the bottom of the fifth to end the contest in five innings.

Miami hosts the Miami Invitational this weekend, beginning on Friday afternoon.
