OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team (10-7) travels to Lexington to play its first mid-week game of the season on Tuesday against Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.

The RedHawks are coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Saluki Tournament in Carbondale, Ill. Miami beat Southern Illinois and Green Bay before dropping a close contest against Iowa. Senior infielder Johniann Wahl became the program's all-time leader in RBI (115) and walks (92) this past weekend.

Against Southern Illinois, Miami jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and held off a late push by the Salukis. Jenny Vasquez led the Miami offense with three hits and four RBI's – all on a grand slam. Haeley Tran had two hits, scoring twice as did Johniann Wahl, one of her runs coming on her home run.

Play resumed again on Sunday after inclement weather cancelled Saturday's games. The RedHawks beat Green Bay by a 6-1 margin in the first game on Sunday. Ashton Slone and Jada Dotson hit home runs for the RedHawks. Slone and Wahl each had two RBI's. Seven different players had a hit. Miami then was edged out by Iowa by a 1-2 margin to wrap up the tournament.

Kentucky is 15-7 this season and is currently on a six-game win streak. The Wildcats are fresh off a three-game sweep against a ranked South Carolina opponent. Kentucky outscored South Carolina 21-3 last weekend. Kentucky's offense is well-rounded as six starters bat at least .300, four players have at least 20 hits, six players have at least 10 RBI and three have at least five home runs. The Wildcats have stolen 27 bases in 22 games this season. Kentucky relies heavily on three of its pitchers, none of whom have over a 3.11 ERA.
