Miami nearly notched a season-best short-program score to open nationals.
PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Miami's senior synchronized skating program opened up its weekend at the US National Championships on Friday evening.
The RedHawks skated their Survivor-remix short program to close out the first day of their competition. MU got past a couple falls in its routine to post a score of 66.36, notching a 39.25 element score with a 29.11 component mark. That total short program score is less than a point shy of Miami's season best and sits fourth in the standings.
The Skyliners lead the competition with 82.58 points, followed by the Haydenettes (80.12) and the Crystallettes 73.65.
Miami returns to the ice on Saturday with the collegiate team performing its free skate around 2:07 p.m. The senior team also wraps up competition with its free skate. That competition begins around 7:18 p.m.
