Men’s Basketball Welcomes Back Wayne Embry Saturday

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team hosts Ohio Saturday for the first Battle of the Bricks game this season. Tip time is 2 p.m. It will be a special day as the RedHawks honor Wayne Embry for all of his accomplishments throughout his career.

THEME: This is Wayne Embry Day. The Miami and Naismith Hall-of-Famer will be in attendance as the team will celebrate both his career with the Red and White and his time in the NBA where he found much success and broke barriers. It is also Alumni Day, with several former Miami players in attendance to be recognized at halftime.

WAYNE EMBRY: Wayne Embry was a 1958 graduate from Miami who still ranks 12th all-time in scoring with 1,401 points and second in rebounds with 1,117 boards. He was elected to the Miami Hall of Fame in 1970 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. After a strong NBA career in which he was selected to the All-Star Team five times, Embry became the first African-American general manager in NBA history when he was hired by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1972. He was twice named NBA Executive of the Year in 1992 and 1998. In 1999 Embry was selected to the Naismith Hall of Fame for both his on and off court accomplishments.
