LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks beat Akron on the road on Saturday by a 67-61 margin to earn Miami's 10th conference win this season.
Savannah Kluesner earned her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Lauren Dickerson and
Leah Purvis also scored in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Kenzie Schmitz scored a career-high six points. The RedHawks did not trail in the entire game, although Miami's lead was cut to as little as two points.
ABOUT TOLEDO: The Rockets are second in the MAC West, winning the last six of nine games after starting conference play 1-2. On Saturday, Toledo fell at Northern Illinois in the final six seconds of the game by a 52-54 margin. Kaayla McIntyre earned a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Nakiah Black also scored in double figures with 12. McIntyre and Black lead the Rockets offense with 15.8 and 10.9 points per game. McIntyre also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.1 per game.
SERIES WITH THE ROCKETS: Toledo leads the all-time series 38-28 while Miami has won the last two. On January 9, 2019, the RedHawks beat the Rockets by a 65-64 margin in Oxford. Kluesner led Miami with a double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) while
Kendall McCoy (17 points), Purvis (12 points) and Dickerson (11 points) also scored in double figures. McIntyre put up 23 points to lead Toledo's offense while Sara Rokkanen (13 points) and Black (10 points) also reached double figures. The RedHawks defense allowed only six points in the second quarter and then hung onto the lead despite a second-half push by the Rockets.
