LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks won their eighth-straight game with a 70-45 win against Northern Illinois on Wednesday to move Miami to the top of the MAC standings for the first time this season.
Kendall McCoy earned her first double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Savannah Kluesner led the Miami offense with 17 points.
Kristen Levering also scored in double figures with 12 points.
Lauren Dickerson dished out eight assists, twice the total of the entire Northern Illinois roster. The Miami defense allowed no NIU player to reach double figures as the RedHawks gave up their lowest point total in conference play this season. The RedHawks pulled down 50 rebounds for the fourth time this season.
ABOUT AKRON: The Zips have won their last two games, both at home, against Western Michigan and Ball State. This season, Akron is 4-1 in home conference games, its only loss coming on January 16 to Eastern Michigan. The Zips beat Ball State on Wednesday by 30 points, holding the Cardinals' offense to only three points in the first quarter. Akron had six players reach double figures, led by Megan Sefcik with 24 points, as the team shot 52.3 percent from the floor. Sefcik leads the Zips' offense with 16.9 points per game this season. Haliegh Reinoehl leads Akron in rebounding with 7.4 per game.
SERIES WITH THE ZIPS: Miami owns the 37-16 advantage in the all-time series with Akron, including the last four meetings. In Akron, the RedHawks have won 18 games, compared to the Zips' seven. On February 21, 2018, Miami beat Akron on the road by a 77-50 margin. The RedHawks had six players in double figures while the Zips had only one. All five of Miami's regular starters this season reached double figures in the February 21 matchup.
