Miami Hosts Miami Invitational, Sends Athletes to U.S. Open

The RedHawks will swim and dive Thursday through Saturday at the Nixon Aquatic Center while eight swimmers travel to Atlanta to compete in the U.S. Open.
OXFORD, Ohio ā The Miami University swimming and diving team hosts the 26th annual Miami Invitational this Thursday through Saturday inside the Nixon Aquatic Center. Eight swimmers will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in the U.S. Open for a chance to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Results will be available live on meet mobile.
On the swimming side of the Miami Invitational, the RedHawks will compete against Ball State, the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas More and Bowling Green (women only). The Miami divers will host Ball State, the University of Pennsylvania, Bowling Green (women only), Kentucky, IUPUI, Ohio (women only), Toledo (women only), Ripfest Club, Guangdong Diving, Forest City Diving Club, Cincinnati Diving Academy and Indiana International School of Diving.
On Thursday, the preliminaries for swimming will begin at 10 a.m. The events include the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 400 medley relay. The finals in these events will begin at 6 p.m. Diving will be competing on the platforms at 3 p.m. and then will hold an exhibition for synchronized diving at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday, the preliminaries for swimming commence at 10 a.m. The events include the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 freestyle, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay. Diving preliminaries will begin at 1 p.m. for the women's 3-mtr and the men's 1-mtr. The finals for both swimming and diving begin at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. The events include the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and 1650 free. The finals in these events will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 1650 free. For diving, the preliminaries will begin at noon for the women's 1-mtr and the men's 3-mtr. The diving finals in these events begin at 5 p.m.
The Miami women most recently beat Buffalo on November 2 after falling to Eastern Michigan by just four points the week before. The Miami men last won the Zip Classic on October 18 and 19, beating Denison, Xavier and Cleveland State up at Akron's pool.

Ball State: The Cardinal women hold a 3-2 dual meet record so far this season after beginning the year with a second-place finish at the Indiana Intercollegiate. Ball State's women have dropped both of their conference matchups, losing to Buffalo 197-103 and then Eastern Michigan 167-133. The Cardinal women most recently beat Grand Valley State 197-103.
The Cardinal men have a 2-1 record in dual meets this season and also began the second with a runner-up finish at the Indiana Intercollegiate. Ball State's men beat Eastern Illinois and Wabash before losing their most recent meet against Grand Valley State by a 187.5-112.5 margin.
Bowling Green (W): The Falcons are a perfect 2-0 in dual meets so far this season, beating Ohio and Marshall after beginning the year with a quad meet at Buffalo. Bowling Green most recently finished fourth out of 13 teams at the Magnus Cup at Cleveland State.
University of Pennsylvania: The UPenn women are 1-4 in dual meets this season, most recently beating Cornell by a 212-88 margin in an Ivy League meet to earn their first win of the year. The UPenn women are 1-3 in conference meets, having lost to Columbia, Brown and Princeton.
The UPenn men hold a 3-2 record in dual meets with an even 2-2 record in conference matchups. Most recently, the UPenn men beat Cornell by a 168-132 margin. Their other wins came against Brown in an Ivy League meet and Villanova while their losses were at the hands of Princeton and Columbia.
Thomas More: The Thomas More women have competed in double-dual meets on three occasions after opening the season with a fourth-place finish at the Kentucky Invitational. The Saints women are 0-6 in the double-dual meets, losing to Wooster and Mount Union on November 16.
The Thomas More men began the season the same way as the women and are also 0-6 in the double-dual meets, most recently losing to Wooster and Mount Union.
Kentucky (Diving): The University of Kentucky will be entering 10 divers into the competition ā six women and four men. Most recently, Kentucky competed at the Ohio State Invitational, led by a third-place finish in the women's 3-mtr, fourth in both the men's 1-mtr and men's 3-mtr.
IUPUI (Diving): IUPUI is bringing three female and two male divers to the Miami Invitational. At the House of Champions competition two weeks ago, the IUPUI divers had six top-six finishes.
Ohio (Diving, W): The Bobcats have seven divers on the roster. Against Akron in Ohio's most recent dual meet, the Bobcats turned in two runner-up finishes on the boards.
Toledo (Diving, W): The Rockets are bringing three divers to Oxford. At the TYR Invitational, Toledo brought home a third-place finish in the 1-mtr and a fourth-place finish in the 3-mtr.
Diving Clubs: Divers representing five different diving clubs will be competing this weekend. Guangdong Diving and Ripfest Diving Club will have eight divers apiece while Forest City Diving Club will have four and the Cincinnati Diving Academy and the Indiana International School of Diving will each have one diver.
