Miami added nearly 15 points to its free skate score from a week ago.
IRVINE, Calif. – Following an opening week stumble, Miami's senior synchronized skating team put together a much more polished free skate at the Fall Synchronized Classic on Saturday.
The RedHawks registered a total free skate score of 105.02 with their Rise Up theme, a nearly 15-point increase from last weekend's output. MU posted a 56.64 component score to go with a 50.38 element score, though did suffer a couple points of deductions for falls. The Red & White's free skate and total score (161.69) finished second to the Crystallettes.
"We made some improvements from last week," head coach Carla DeGirolamo said. "We still have some more work to do, but we skated well overall and we're moving in the right direction. We look forward to getting back at it and training for the Dr. Porter Classic in a few weeks."
While both the senior and collegiate teams don't compete again until the Dec. 6-8 Dr. Richard Porter Classic, fans can catch exhibition performances for both programs during intermission at this coming weekend's hockey series against Minnesota Duluth.
