
Coach Hendrix and Staff Earns First Miami Win

The RedHawks beat Prairie View A&M 65-52 on Thursday.
MOBILE, Ala. – The Miami University women's basketball team (1-1) beat Prairie View A&M by a 65-52 margin on Thursday evening on the campus of South Alabama in a consolation bracket game in the preseason WNIT.
Savannah Kluesner began the game with the two first made field goals for either team. The RedHawks held onto the lead for the entire first quarter as Peyton Scott sunk Miami's next two baskets and Kelly McLaughlin the final two RedHawk buckets of the first quarter.
Miami held a 12-9 lead after 10 minutes of play as Prairie View A&M added two points at the buzzer to trim the RedHawks lead to three.
After trading baskets to begin the second quarter, the Red and White put together an 8-0 run to increase its lead to 22-11 with 6:40 to play in the first half. Kluesner became the first person on the floor to reach double figures, doing so with 4:11 left in the second quarter. She was shooting 5-of-7 at the time.
The RedHawks held a 30-21 lead at halftime after Alexis Straw put one down as time expired.
Lauren Dickerson scored 12 of Miami's 14 points in the third quarter, including three from long range. Prairie View A&M cut the RedHawks lead down to four points with a minute remaining in the third-quarter before Dickerson completed a three-point play to give Miami a 44-37 lead after 30 minutes.
PVAMU scored the first five points of the final quarter to cut the RedHawks lead down to two points. The teams traded baskets as Miami held a 49-47 lead with seven minutes to play.
The Red and White then went on a 14-0 run over five minutes to take control of the game. Five different players scored during the run as McLaughlin and Scott each reached double figures.
Dickerson led all players with 19 points while Kluesner scored 15 points. McLaughlin had a career-high 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double while Scott recorded her second game in double figures this season with 12 points as well. Miami out-rebounded PVAMU 50-36.
The RedHawks will play the winner of South Alabama vs. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Friday at either 5:30 p.m. ET or 8 p.m. ET.
