Miami Falls to No. 20 Wake Forest

The RedHawks drop a 2-0 decision on pride day.

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team (7-5, 2-0 MAC) fell to No. 20 Wake Forest by a 2-0 margin on Sunday.

Wake Forest struck quickly with two goals in the first four minutes of play. The first goal was scored on a rebound after Isabelle Perese stopped the first two shots. The second goal was scored on a direct penalty corner feed.

After the first four minutes of the game, Miami did not allow another penalty corner in the first half.

The RedHawks took their first shot during the fifth minute of play from the stick of Leonor Berlie but the shot was saved by Isla Blint to keep Miami off the board.
Miami earned a penalty corner to end the first quarter but did not capitalize.

The RedHawks took three shots, including one that narrowly missed the cage and one that hit the post, compared to Wake Forest's one during the second quarter.
Only three combined shots were taken during the third quarter, two of which belonged to Wake Forest.

Wake Forest turned up the pressure in the fourth quarter with five shots but two saves from Perese kept the game at 2-0.

Perese recorded six saves while Berlie led Miami's offense with two shots.

The RedHawks travel to Kent State on Friday for a conference matchup at 1 p.m.
