Baseball
Last Week: Miami (17-10, 6-3 MAC) collected another conference series win this weekend as it took two out of three from Bowling Green at home. The RedHawks cruised to a 7-0 win in the opener behind a strong start from Spencer Mraz on the mound. MU also outhit the Falcons, 14-5, led by the three-hit performances of Dallas Hall and Will Vogelgesang (Recap). Saturday saw the `Hawks blow a two-run lead in the ninth, falling to BG 10-9 (Recap). Miami rallied to collect a win in the series finale Sunday, topping the Falcons 8-5. The Red & White owned a 6-0 lead before five unanswered BG runs made it a game again. However, Miami used a two-run bottom of the eighth to create some cushion and walk away a winner (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks host the Joe Nuxhall Classic this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. The team takes on Xavier at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and either Cincinnati or Wright State on Wednesday, also at 6 p.m. Miami then takes aim at Ball State as they travel to Muncie this weekend.
Softball
Last Week: Miami (14-17 overall, 3-6 MAC) dropped the series at Eastern Michigan 2-1. On Friday, Miami lost 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth. Courtney Vierstra pitched a complete game. Megan Wurts and Kaitlyn Gliha each hit a home run (Recap). On Saturday, the RedHawks dropped the first game of the doubleheader 8-2 and won the second game 6-2. In the first game, Wurts hit her second home run of the weekend. Vierstra pitched another complete game in the final game of the series. All nine batters either reached base or picked up an RBI in game three (Recap). Next Week: The RedHawks travel to Bowling Green for a mid-week doubleheader on Wednesday. Miami then hosts Kent State on Friday and Saturday for a three-game series for alumni weekend.
Golf
Last Week: Miami was idle. This Week: The RedHawks begin the home stretch of the season by traveling to the Boilermaker Invitational this weekend. Miami will play two rounds on Saturday and follow it up with one final round of 18 holes on Sunday.
Track & Field
Last Week: Miami traveled south to compete at Alabama's Crimson Tide Invitational this past weekend (Recap). The RedHawks continued to climb up the MAC leaderboards thanks to solid performances in several events. Junior Aaron Muresan highlighted this group, as he ended the weekend ranked in the top-three in the conference in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. This Week: The Red & White will host their first of two home meets of the spring in the Miami Duals. The one-day meet will take place Saturday, Apr. 14.
Tennis
Last Week: The RedHawks picked up another conference win, taking down Eastern Michigan 5-2 on Friday to move to 8-8 on the season and 4-1 in the MAC (Recap). For the fifth match in a row, Miami claimed the doubles point with wins from Nelli Ponomareva/Anastasiia Vasiukhina and Melati Devi/Emily Struble. The `Hawks used this early advantage to stay ahead and put away the Eagles as Ponomareva, Struble, Priyana Kalita, and Lena Babunski picked up singles wins. This Week: Miami hosts their final home match of the season, taking on Bowling Green Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Miami Tennis Courts.
