Golf Finishes Eighth at Desert Mountain Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University golf team shot a final round of 12-over par 300 on Sunday to finish at 37-over par and in eighth place at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate. Kansas came out on top at 11-under par to win the tournament.
Senior Patrick Flavin and redshirt junior Brian Ohr had solid performances this weekend, both finishing in 27th place overall. Flavin shot a final round of five-over par 77 to solidify his place in the standings at nine-over par. Ohr had a comeback performance, shooting a two-over par round of 74, moving up 10 spots in the standings to finish alongside Flavin.
Freshman Charlie Nikitas also had a comeback performance in the final round, shooting a two-over par round of 74. Nikitas finished at 13-over par, moving up nine spots to tie for 40th place. Sophomore Cam Solomon shot an eight-over par round of 80. Solomon finished the tournament at 15-over par to tie for 46th place. Freshman Jack Herceg finished the final round with a three-over par round of 75. Herceg finished the tournament tied for 49th place with a 16-over par score.
Playing as an individual, freshman Jack Mortell rounded out the RedHawks with a final score of 32-over par. Mortell shot a final round of seven-over par 79 to finish 66th overall.
Miami returns to action next week as it competes in the Colleton River Collegiate March 12-13 in Bluffton, South Carolina.
