Softball
Last Week: The RedHawks (13-12, 2-1 MAC) opened conference play at Northern Illinois. On Friday, Miami won the first game of the doubleheader 1-0. Courtney Vierstra pitched the complete game shutout, striking out eight. Rylee Whispel brought Kat Lee around with a sacrifice fly. The RedHawks lost the second game 8-0 in five innings (Recap). On Sunday, Miami won 7-2 to take the series. Vierstra once again pitched a complete game. Tran led the RedHawks at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk. Lee led Miami with three RBI's (Recap). Next Week: The RedHawks continue conference play at Central Michigan. First pitch on Friday is at 3 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
Baseball
Last Week: Miami (13-7, 2-1 MAC) opened Mid-American Conference play this past weekend on the road at Eastern Michigan with a series win. The RedHawks were down 3-1 in the opener on Friday but scored two runs in the ninth to force extras before winning 4-3 in 11 innings (Recap). A good start on the mound from Zach Spears and run-scoring hits by Ross Haffey and Kyle Winkler helped MU to a 3-1 victory in game two on Saturday (Recap). The Eagles salvaged a win in the series finale, blanking the Red & White, 4-0, on Sunday (Recap). This Week: Miami begins the week at Kentucky on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3. The team then returns home to host Toledo for the weekend.
Golf
Last Week: The RedHawks find themselves tied for sixth at 17-over par playing two rounds of the Seahawk Intercollegiate on Sunday. Cam Solomon is tied for ninth individually at two-over par. (Recap) This Week: Miami concludes play at Seahawk Intercollegiate with one final round of 18 holes on Monday.
Tennis
Last Week: Miami went 2-0 this past week with a pair of 6-1 wins over Ball State (Recap) and Northern Illinois (Recap). This Week: Miami returns home to host Buffalo on March 30.
