Women's Basketball
Last Week: Miami hosted Duquesne this past Thursday in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The RedHawks and Dukes were neck-and-neck throughout the first half but a hot-shooting second half helped Duquesne get past Miami, 69-56. Savannah Kluesner finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the `Hawks while Kendall McCoy also scored 17 and Lauren Dickerson contributed 12 (Recap). Miami finishes the season with a 21-11 (12-6 MAC) record, 10 more wins than last year. The 12 conference victories match the team's win total from the prior three years combined.
Men's Basketball
Last Week: In a wild shootout, Miami's (16-18 overall) offense was rolling, but could not overcome 16 three-point makes from Campbell as Camels took a 97-87 victory in first round of CBI. Freshman guard Nike Sibande scored a career-high 29 points for the RedHawks. (Recap) Miami's season is complete. The RedHawks earned their most victories since also recording 16 during the 2010-11 season.
Golf
Last Week: Miami finished tied for second in the Colleton River Collegiate. Redshirt junior Brian Ohr won his first career collegiate individual title, finishing at one-under par. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks will begin play at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, playing the first two rounds of the tournament on Sunday.
Baseball
Last Week: Miami (11-6) was swept at the hands of Xavier this weekend. Friday saw a tight, low-scoring affair with the Musketeers sneaking past the RedHawks, 2-1 (Recap). MU could not get a timely hit Saturday as Xavier came away victorious again, this time by a score of 5-2. RedHawk starting pitcher Zach Spears finished the day with a career-high 11 strikeouts in six innings of work (Recap). Miami grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the series finale on Sunday thanks to a two-run home run from Ross Haffey in the first innings. However, Xavier would use the power of eight home runs to rout the RedHawks, 13-3 (Recap). This Week: Miami begins the week at Cincinnati on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. first pitch against the Bearcats. The team then hits the road for the weekend to open up Mid-American Conference play at Eastern Michigan. Friday's series opener is set to get underway at 6 p.m.
Softball
Last Week: Miami (11-11) went 3-2 at the Miami Invitational. On Friday, the RedHawks took both games of its doubleheader, beating Fort Wayne 9-4 and Robert Morris 16-1 in five innings. Megan Wurts and Johniann Wahl led the batters on Friday. Wurts went 6-for-7, including a triple and a home run, and earned six RBI's and 11 total bases. Wahl went 3-for-5, two of those hits being home runs, and earned five RBI's and nine total bases (Recap). On Saturday, Miami fell to Michigan 7-0 and Fort Wayne 6-5. Kat Lee picked up a multi-hit game against Fort Wayne (Recap). On Sunday, the RedHawks beat Dayton 13-5 in five innings. Seven different Miami batters got a hit and an eighth made it to base with a walk. Wurts, Lee and Ashton Slone each recorded more than one hit, with Wurts and Slone each hitting one out of the park (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks travel to Eastern Kentucky for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday. Miami then starts conference play at home against Northern Illinois on Friday and Saturday. Games on Friday and Saturday start at 1 p.m. with Saturday's being a doubleheader.
Swimming & Diving
Last Week: Pei Lin competed at the NCAA Championships this week for the fourth time in her career. Lin finished fifth in the 3-mtr dive (350.85) and 21st in the 1-mtr dive (279.20). (Recap)
