BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The RedHawk women's basketball team earned their third straight road victory and fourth overall with a 66-62 decision at Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 62-61 with 51 seconds to go, Leah Purvis hit a deep three-pointer to put Miami in front for good as Lauren Dickerson polished off the win with a pair of free throw makes.
Dickerson finished with a game-high 24 points and eight assists, leaving her just 10 points shy of the 1000-point mark for her career. Savannah Kluesner neared a double-double with 12 points and eight boards while Purvis came up clutch to post 10 points, all of which came in the second half. 10 of Kluesner's 12 points came in the second half, too. The 'Hawks shot 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field while the Falcons were 47.8 (22-of-46) percent from the floor. BG finished with four scorers in double figures with three leading the way with 14 points apiece.
The two sides were neck-and-neck the whole way with neither able to get up by more than five points the whole game. Miami's largest lead of the day was four in the first quarter while BG's was five at one point in the second quarter. Moreover, the RedHawks led for a total of 14:56 while Falcons led for 14:57.
Dickerson stole the show in the opening half as 22 of her 24 points came in the first 20 minutes.
At the half Miami led Bowling Green, 33-32.
The next 20 minutes saw Dickerson go quiet in terms of scoring but she would dish out six assists while Purvis and Kluesner stepped up their game, combining for 20 of Miami's 33 second-half points.
