Coleman-Lands' Buzzer Beater Leads Miami to 65-62 Win

Junior forward Bam Bowman led Miami with 18 points, going 3-for-4 from behind the arc. That included a huge triple with 3:15 to go that put the RedHawks back on top.
Defensively, the Red and White kept the Raiders in check, especially in the first half. Even as Wright State began to hit some shots in the second half, Miami was able to use its rebounding advantage to remain in front. The RedHawks won the rebounding battle, 38-28. They had 16 offensive rebounds, including 10 in the second half.
Wright State hit a few jumpers early to take a 7-2 lead with 15:34 to go in the first half. Sophomore guard Nike Sibande drained a bucket to get Miami's offense going, while its defense began to clamp down. A layup from Bowman and back-to-back three-pointers from redshirt senior guard Abdoulaye Harouna gave the RedHawks a 12-7 advantage. Brown hit a jumper, while Mekhi Lairy made a three to complete a 16-2 run and give Miami an 18-9 lead at the 8:50 mark.

A three-pointer from Coleman-Lands gave the 'Hawks their largest lead of the game at 23-11. The Raiders went on a 10-4 run to pull within six, but another three from sophomore guard Jalen Adaway sent Miami into the break leading 30-21.
The RedHawks went 12-for-24 (50.0 percent) during the first half, including 5-for-11 (45.5 percent) from behind the arc. Their defense held Wright State to 28.0 percent (7-for-25) shooting.
Bowman continued to shine as the second half began with as an old-fashioned three-point play and a normal triple from behind the arc to make it 38-27 with 14:50 to go. The Raiders responded with a 13-3 run over the next two and a half minutes to pull within one at 41-40, but a bucket from Harouna saw the RedHawks go to the under-12 media timeout in front, 43-40.

A free throw with 8:16 left gave Wright State the lead for the first time since the 13:16 mark of the first half. Bowman got it right back with a layup on the next possession. After a Raider free throw, Bowman drained a three to make it 48-45 with 7:24 to go. A 10-3 run by WSU over the next three minutes gave the Raiders a 55-51 advantage at the 4:36 mark.
The RedHawks cut the deficit to two on a Lairy layup. As their defense held stout, back-to-back three-pointers by Bowman and sophomore forward Dalonte Brown gave Miami a 59-55 advantage with 2:36 to go. After the teams traded some free throws, the 'Hawks lead was down to one at 60-59 at the 1:51 mark.

It remained that until senior guard Darrian Ringo drove the lane for a layup with 19 seconds remaining that made it 62-59. Wright State forward Bill Wampler hit a three-pointer to tie the score with 6.3 second left. Ringo then went the length of the court and found Coleman-Lands at the right elbow for the game-winning three-pointer.

A balanced scoring effort saw Brown and Harouna contribute nine points each for the RedHawks. Sibande had eight points, seven rebounds and five assists. Coleman-Lands finished with six points.
Miami returns to action Saturday when it hosts Purdue Fort Wayne. Tip time is 2 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+.
