The RedHawks close non-conference play on Saturday.
ON TAP: Miami (8-2) wraps up its non-conference schedule against Ohio Dominican (6-5) on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. in Millett Hall. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and Miami College Sports Live. The game is the program's annual Go4theGoal game in which the RedHawks support the organization and its initiative to help improve the lives of children battling cancer.
LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks powered past Jacksonville State on Tuesday, Dec. 18 by a 58-41 margin with their most dominating performance of the season in the first quarter. After 10 minutes of play, Miami led 22-2, while forcing JSU to shoot just six percent from the floor. The RedHawks' defense only allowed one three-point shot during the entire game. Lauren Dickerson scored a season-high 24 points while Kendall McCoy and Savannah Kluesner led the team with eight rebounds each. McCoy reached double figures with 15 points of her own.
ABOUT OHIO DOMINICAN: The Panthers hold a 6-5 overall record and an even 3-3 record in conference play so far this season. ODU's offense is powered by Alexa Fisher and Angela Troyer, who are both averaging over 14 point per game. Troyer also leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game while Fisher leads with 42 assists. Most recently, Ohio Dominican fell to Alderson Broaddus by a 56-63 margin. Fisher and Troyer led the scoring with 12 and 14, respectively, while Olivia Fox posted a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
SERIES WITH THE PANTHERS: This is the first regular-season meeting between the two teams. Miami and ODU faced off in an exhibition game on Nov. 5, 2016. The RedHawks came back from a 56-57 deficit to defeat the Panthers 64-61.
